I Love My Vexilar

I love my Vexilar . Back in the day when i first started ice fishing on Lake of the Woods and Lake Winnipeg, Vexilar was the only option if you wanted electronics on the ice. There are other options now however in my opinion none of them hold a candle to Vexilar.

There are a lot of things I can do without on the ice but my Flasher is not one of them. You can certainly catch fish without one. So technically it is not essential however I find the Flasher makes me a better fisherman. I can see how the fish react to the lure/bait. It gives me an opportunity to change my presentation in response to the behavior of the fish.

The Glo-Ring is an essential addition. It allows me to recharge glow jigs and lures quickly so I can get the line back in the water. The Glo-Ring just folds out from the flasher and is always on right in front of me. I can hang the lure in it for several seconds and it is back in the water in no time.

We don’t typically rent out Vexilars as there is a slight learning curve, a beginner may find it more of a distraction than a benefit. We will certainly have one along on guided trips. And we do rent batteries for the Vexilar if someone is flying in and did not want to take a chance on flying with the battery.
